Tom Huang – Studio Projects



Tom Huang (Lawrence, Kansas) holds an MFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BA in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. In 2007, he was named a “searchlight artist,” an emerging artist to watch by the American Craft Council. His work has been exhibited nationally and has been included in exhibitions juried by Sam Maloof, Suzanne Baizerman, Jo Lauria, and Gail Brown. While working in the San Francisco/Oakland design community, he was involved in creating work for many clients, including Disney Imagineering, Sun Microsystems, Wolfgang Puck, and Sony Entertainment. He has lectured at the California College of the Arts, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and spoken on the critical discourse panel at the annual Furniture Society Conference. He is currently represented by the Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia, Shidoni Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and has been featured in American Craft Magazine. A practicing artist and educator, Huang has taught classes at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and teaches Industrial Design at the University of Kansas where he is an Associate Professor.
